Farmacy Project Coordinator

Project Description

The Farmacy is a partnership between AdkAction and Keeseville Pharmacy, an independently-owned pharmacy which has been serving the Champlain Valley region of Northern New York for over 15 years. The Farmacy partners with local farms and food processors to make high-quality produce, dairy, meat, eggs, and value-added products available to all residents of Keeseville, a rural hamlet without a grocery store.

Together, AdkAction and the Keeseville Pharmacy are trying to prevent chronic disease and improve community health outcomes for vulnerable populations (children, the elderly, veterans, and low-income residents) by increasing access to affordable, locally-produced food and high-quality pantry staples.

The “Farmacy” project is intended to serve as a model for mixed-use healthy food retail in rural communities without grocery store access. This project seeks to enhance the existing work at the Keeseville Pharmacy and replicate the model in one additional location in Essex County.

Position Description

The Farmacy Project Coordinator will provide assistance to AdkAction and Keeseville Pharmacy staff to help bolster the offerings and customer base. The Coordinator will also work to replicate the model of the Keeseville “Farmacy” at one additional location in Essex County by providing training, building capacity, and developing a mixed-use healthy food retail tool kit.  The Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director of AdkAction and the owner of the Keeseville Pharmacy.
